Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga landed in Lusaka, Zambia’s capital city, on Monday evening, August 23, for the inauguration of president-elect Hakainde Hichilema.
Orange Democratic Movement officials confirmed to Mwanahabari.co.ke that Raila Odinga was in Zambia to represent President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The news is likely to rub Deputy President William Ruto’s disciples the wrong way as the president continues to sideline him.
Upon landing in Zambia Raila took to twitter to announce his arrival in Zambia – noting that he was there to witness the historic moment.
His tweet read thus: “It will be a great day for the people of Zambia and Africa as a whole to witness a seamless transfer of power as envisaged by democratic processes,” he tweeted.

Efforts by Mwanahabari to reach ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna for a comment was futile as the phone went unanswered.
Odinga was among the first political leaders to congratulate Hichilema who non the contested election in his fifth attempt after flooring Edgar Lungu.
59-year-old Hichilema received 2,810,777 votes against Lungu’s 1,814,201.
Just like Hichilema, Odinga has given the presidency more than a few shots – and will be looking to secure the Presidency in 2022 – in what many believe could be a defining moment in his political career especially because his Handshake partner Uhuru, is fighting tooth and nail in his corner.
