A medical officer in Masaba South, within Kisii County, was Monday arraigned at the Keroka court to face charges of defilement.
The court heard that the suspect, Mr. Henry Nyarango, had forced himself on the little girl after she checked into the hospital on June 2.
The suspect who is clinician at a Catholic Mission Hospital in the area, was arrested by officers from Ramasha police station – and recorded under OB NUMBER: 17/03/06/2023.
The court heard that on June 2, at Ichuni Sub Location, St Catherine Ichuni Hospital in Masaba South Sub-County, within Kisii County, the suspect intentionally and unlawfully had sex with a minor, aged 15 years.
The suspect also faces an alternative charge of committing an indecent act with the minor
The court heard that the suspect was on duty at the health facility on the material night of the incident.
The court also heard that the suspect pursued the plaintiff into the toilet located within the facility, where she had gone to answer a call of nature, and defiled her.
The case was heard by Principal Magistrate Kimtai Matata
The suspect was, however, released on Sh100,000 bond with a surety of similar amount.
Principal Magistrate Kimtai Matata warned the suspect against interfering with or threatening the appellant upon securing release.
The case will be mentioned on June 8.
