David Ndii Speaks on Rumours He Has Left Ruto’s Camp

BY PETER KARANJA

Former Raila Odinga’s chief strategist David Ndii has come out to speak on rumors doing rounds that he had decided to shake hands with DP William Ruto’s Hustler Narrative.

Ndii who is credited with coming up and cementing the bottoms up economic model on which Ruto has anchored his campaign has denied authoring a letter purporting that he had ditched Ruto team.

The letter which went round the social media platforms alleged that the economist left Hustler team over unpaid monies.

The letter which was allegedly addressed to Ruto himself read in part:

“Following a sequence of personal and thought-provoking reviews, I wish to tender my resignation as your economic advisor.

“Having originated the concept of bottom-up economic, which seeks to uplift the proletariats, which was also in the NASA 2017 campaigns, I have come to realize that my position as UDA’s economic strategist is untenable.”

Ndii who is not known to be the type that minces his own mind came out to dispel the rumors – noting specifically that he has not the behind the said letter.

The renowned economist who the Telegraph described as “one of Africa’s best known economists and an outspoken anti-corruption crusader” – was a Rhodes scholar at Oxford University.

Ndii met Rut’s camp in April and early May 2021 – together with a section of  Mt Kenya politicians something that left President Uhuru Kenyatta’s camp jittery.

The team is said to have held a three-day retreat at the Maasai Mara to discuss economic issues affecting Kenya around which Ruto would run his campaign.

The other MT Kenya political heavy weights included former CBK Governor Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u.

Azimio La Umoja brigades will be holding their breaths hoping that the fallout between Ruto and Ndii is real as rumoured.
