UDA Speaks After Denis Itumbi Abduction

Firebrand political strategist and consultant Denis Itumbi was on Thursday, December 23, abducted by three men while having a hair cut at a barbershop near his Thindigua residence along Kiambu Road.
UDA Communications Director Wanjohi Githae took to his social media platform to confirm the abduction.
According to Githae, Itumbi was kidnapped by three men in a car along Kiambu Road.
Githae’s tweet which also indicated the car’s number plate read: “Dennis Itumbi was abducted/kidnapped by three men at Thindigua as he left a barber shop…”
Reports about Itumbi’s alleged abduction was broken on Twitter  Thursday, December 23 afternoon – by renown blogger Robert Alai.
The tweet by Alai read: “What has happened to Dennis Itumbi? I am getting conflicting reports. I hope that the self-declared HNIB boss is fine. Raila never wishes harm to his enemies. That’s not baba’s way of politicking. I am sure that even President Uhuru never wants to harm his opponents.”
It is however not clear whether the abductors were security officers or criminals.
The police are yet to issue any statement regarding the alleged abduction – which comes four months after Itumbi alleged that his car had been trailed and even shot at by unknown people.
The August 12, 2021 incident saw the police visit the scene of the alleged shooting – before disputing the claims
According to Itumbi, he was driving along the Garden Estate – Mountain Mall Road to pick dinner at a local restaurant when a car blocked his way. Alarmed, he drove through the vehicle, hitting its side – and successfully managed to flee the scene.
The police said in their report that they did not recover any spent cartridges at the scene.
The officers, however, noted that his car had a slightly damaged bumper.
Itumbi who is currently a political and digital strategist for Deputy President William Ruto and his UDA party, joined the murky waters that is Kenyan politics after working as a newspaper journalist for a number of media houses in Kenya.He had a run-in with a number of top government officials.
Itumbi has since been found – and is being treated at Nairobi West Hospital. Itumbi claims was abducted and beaten before being abandoned in Lucky Summer Estate – In Nairobi.
The police are yet to address the incident.
