The man who killed his lover in a suspected love triangle, in Kitengela on Friday evening, pretended to be dead in order to escape the wrath of the angry mob that was baying for his blood.
Soon after he stabbed the woman angry onlookers set up on him with kicks and blows.
“When he realised that the crowd was out to finish him, the man, who also works at the Pizza Inn joint, acted dead, and that is how the mob stopped the beating,” says a bodaboda operator who was at the scene.
Before police arrived at the scene, the man lay sprawled on the ground next to the bloodied body of the woman he had just stabbed to death.
“The crowd was quite certain that the man was dead,” added the bodaboda operator.
“Even if he wasn’t dead, we were sure he would either die on the way to hospital or at the hospital.”
Unknown to the crowd, the man only sustained minor injuries.
He has since been discharged from hospital and is currently held at the Kitengela Police Station, Where he is being processed to be charged with murder, possibly on Monday.
Meanwhile, police have sealed off the entire Pizza Inn establishment as it is a scene of crime.
