Two Missing School Children Found Floating In Homa Bay River

Shock has gripped a village in Homa Bay after bodies of two children were on Sunday, September 12, 2021, found dumped in raging river Sare.

Three-year-old Henry Ochieng  and Vanteli Otieno aged five years, are said to have left their home with a man known to them on Friday never to be seen alive again.

Reports indicate that the two children, who were pupils at Achuth Primary School, may have been strangled to death on Friday, September 10 before their bodies were dumped in the river.

Area Assistant Chief Faraja Malit said that a man who worked at a nearby quarry – and who left with the children to go graze their cattle on Friday is the main suspect.

Sources indicated that the children left with the suspect – and never returned home.

The family of the minors who spent entire Friday, Saturday and part of Sunday searching for the children.

The whole village went into mourning after the two bodies of the children were found floating in the river, with preliminary investigations revealing that the minors may have been strangled to death.

Meanwhile, the suspect remains at large, and police have heightened their search to try and find the suspect.

The two bodies were transferred to Kendu Adventist Hospital Mortuary pending autopsy.
