Over 70-Years Old Car Excites Kenyans

A motor vehicle enthusiast recently caused excitement among motor vehicle lovers after he posted pictures of a faint red and white Volkswagen Karmann Ghia.

The man was demanding Ksh1.5 Million – and judging from a wide range of reactions – many were willing to pay the money to inherit the beast.

Indeed, Kenyan car community were left drooling with many wishing they had a chance to spin the gem.

According to information available in the internet, the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia has been around for decades.

Ideally, it’s a sports car that was marketed in a 2+2 coupe (1955 tp1974) and 2+2 convertible (1957–1974).

The car was an amalgamation of the chassis and the mechanicals of Beetle and Italy’s Carrozzeria Ghia, with hand-built bodywork done by Karmann, the German coach-building house.

Of keen interest is the fact that more than 445,000 Karmann Ghias were produced in Germany over the car’s production life… and the one in Kenya, could just be one of the few left still gracing mother earth.

Did you know that an American industrial designer know as Walter Teague once considered Karmann Ghia as one of world’s most beautifully designed products? Well, now you know.
