The grandson of former president Daniel arap Moi has pleaded with the court to disregard its previous ruling demanding that he pays Ksh1 million for child support per month.
Collins Kibet in a replying affidavit after she was sued by his estranged wife Jeruto Tagi claimed that he is depressed and battling alcoholism.
Jeruto is demanding Ksh 1 million monthly child support, after accusing Collins of escaping from his parental responsibility for their two children.
According to Jeruto, Collins has not catered for the children for the last eight years – which is why she wants the court to compel him to pay the humongous amount.
In his defence, Collins said that he could only afford to cater for the children’s yearly National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) money.
“The applicant who is my immediate neighbour knows very well that I am unable to offer more than I am offering at the moment,” he said – and asked that his children be transferred to a public school in Eldama Ravine called JK Primary School.
He noted that he was recently released from a rehabilitation centre where he was undergoing treatment for alcohol addiction.
He further claimed that he was not in the right state of mind at the time of siring their two children – claiming that she was therefore not his wife.
“I have suffered depression and the resultant loss of business, has seen my personal finances greatly affected to the point where I depend on goodwill of my friends and relatives to meet my immediate needs,” stated Collins in the affidavit.
