A couple said to be having a ‘good time’ inside a Nissan Extrail, near a dam in Ruiru, drowned when the vehicle plunged into the dam.
It is speculated that while in the throes of lovemaking, one of them one of them might have accidentally hit the handbrake, releasing it, causing the vehicle to roll into the water.
The incident happened on Tuesday evening.
Rescuers managed to retrieve the woman’s body on Tuesday evening, while the man’s body was retrieved on Wednesday.
Eye-witnesses said that it is possible that when the vehicle started rolling into the water, the couple must have tried to roll down the windows, in order to get out, explaining why the woman was found outside car. The man’s body remained trapped inside the vehicle.
Both of them were butt naked. When the vehicle was retrieved from the dam at around 3.30 pm on Wednesday, it was found that both the front seats had been reclined, thereby reinforcing the notion that the couple was engaged in some illicit sexual congress.
The open ground where the vehicle was parked is adjacent to Titanic Restaurant. Management of the restaurant is planning to review CCTV footage in order to establish how the vehicle plunged into the waters.
By the time the man’s body was being retrieved from the waters, his relatives were gathered at the scene, but could not talk to on-llokers, as they were still in shock. The bodies have been taken to the General Kago Hospital Morgue, while the vehicle was towed to the nearby Mugutha Police Post.
