A MIDDLE-AGED woman shocked an Eldoret high court when she confessed to have brutally killed her sick child due to lack of money to take the slain boy for treatment in hospital.

The murder suspect, Rose Angelina, claimed that she committed the heinous act on her ailing child after his father refused to take parental responsibility leaving her to shoulder all the burden of taking care of him since she gave birth a year ago.

“Your honor, I would like to confess to plea of guilty charge in connection to the killing of my ailing child whom I buried in a shallow grave,” pleaded Angelina when she appeared before Justice Eric Ogola.

The accused person, who is a casual labourer, committed the alleged crime on 12th January 2017 at Chikuli village in Kakamega County.

Angelina pleaded with the Judge to release her on bond saying that she has stayed in Eldoret GK remand prison since she was arrested by police officers from the directorate of criminal investigations department in 2017.

She told the Judge that none of her close family members has ever come to visit her at the correctional facility since her arrest on the fateful day she was accused of killing her child.

“Your honor none of my relatives, among them my mother, has ever come to visit me at Eldoret GK remand prison. I pray that you release me on bond because I am suffering in prison,” she told the Judge.

When asked by the Judge where she will go if released on bond now that it seems none of her relatives wants to be associate with her after she was linked to the brutal murder of her child, she replied that she would travel to Kitale town and stay with her uncle saying that she is in good terms with him.

Justice Ogola said that he will make a ruling on her bail application on 11th May 2022 and directed that the accused person be escorted back to Eldoret GK women prison.
