Tenants of West Indies estate in Eldoret town were thrown into shock and grief after a woman allegedly murdered her two-year-old son.
Police have identified the suspect as Christabel Chepkogei.
She is currently being held at the Eldoret Central police station.
The woman also reportedly assaulted her six-year-old daughter who is currently fighting for her life at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
Turbo sub county police boss Edward Masibo confirmed the incident.
Unfortunate incident
“It is unfortunate that she did this to her children. Our officers are holding her as we investigate the matter further,” said Masibo.
According to the police, the suspect blamed her actions on stress and depression.
“She told us that she did it due to stress, and that she was remorseful and is seeking forgiveness from God. saying that it was not intentional.

“I did not intend to harm any of my children whom I loved so much but I was forced to kill my son due to stress and depression.
“Nobody in my family wanted to listen to my problems that I was facing in my marriage,” said Chepkosgei.
She opened up by explaining that she has been going through tough times in her marriage and whenever she approached her family for help, nobody wanted to listen to her.
“I am very sorry for what has happened to my son and daughter. I did not intent to kill him or neither harms my daughter but it was just due to stress and depression that had taken toll on my life,” she said.
