Driver Shocks Student Who Forgot Ksh20k, Laptop Inside His Matatu

BY MWANAHABARI REPORTER

A matatu driver has won admiration from Kenyans after he returned Ksh20,000 meant for school fees and a laptop a passenger forgot inside the vehicle.

The passenger – a student of Mount Kenya University – was headed to college in Thika when he forgot his luggage inside the matatu – right next the driver.

The driver, identified as Basilion Kimani, found the bag, inspected its content and found a laptop and some Ksh20,000 stashed in an envelope.

It was then that Mr Kimani presented it to KST SACCO office at Thika Stage – after noting that there was contact information in the bag.

The student had reportedly sat at the drivers cabin – next to the driver when he forgot the luggage. Speaking about the incident on Facebook, the mother of the student said.

I was shocked by his kindness

“On Monday I joined my son in a mission to find the last items. We were not lucky. On Tuesday he continued to search in the remaining booking offices.”

“That’s when he got the bag and the number of the driver. On calling the driver he told him to give him 20 minutes to deliver the money. True to his words he brought the 20,000 shillings in the same envelope.”

“This gesture has left us tongue tied with no words to express our gratitude. I therefore ask whoever sees this message to spread it across all the social networks as a lesson to others that we still have people who have a heart of Gold.”

“My family and I will forever remain grateful to this man. We may have nothing to offer as a sign of appreciation but through this message I know he will be happy. If you are out there and looking for a great driver we have one here. To the KST Sacco if there is anything you can do to appreciate him like promoting him to another level we shall be grateful.”
