Dr Patrick Amoth hit the national headlines in 2020 just following the Covid-19 pandemic that devastated the county.
Always in a suit, Dr Amoth, alongside Ministry of Health Cabinet Secretary MR. Mutahi Kagwe guided the country through the rough patch.
Dr Amoth would appear in the daily briefings in his capacity as the acting Director General for Health in the Ministry of Health, Kenya – a position he has held for four years.
Amoth is yet to be confirmed in the position four years later.

Although Dr Amoth is no miracle worker like Jesus in Galilee, his contribution towards health especially during the pandemic was significant.
The University of Nairobi-trained Medical doctor has chewed good books. The man from Siaya County also has a Master’s in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the University of Nairobi.
Dr. Amoth is currently the Vice President of the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (WHO), representing the African region – and continues to work as a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist.
He previously headed the Directorate of Public Health at the Ministry having risen from a Medical Officer at Kisumu’s Provincial Hospital.
