Police have arrested popular pastor Ezekiel Odero of New Life Prayer Centre and Church.
The pastor was arrested on Thursday morning after his church was linked to that of pastor Paul Mackenzie of the infamous Shakahola village.
There are claims that pastor Ezekiel’s church has been promoting cultism.
The crackdown comes following the discovery of 98 individuals inside church grounds belonging to Pastor Mackenzie.
“This morning we have arrested Pastor Ezekiel Odero of New Life Prayer Centre and Church in Mavueni on allegation of the deaths that have been occurring at his premises and reported to various morgues or institutions,” Coast Regional Commissioner Rhoda Onyacha said.
Pastor Ezekiel’s church has also been closed down.
The pastor is being held at the regional police headquarters in Mombasa.
Meanwhile, the detectives spent time at a Mortuary located near Pastor Ezekiel’s church – digging for information amid allegations of deaths at the church.
