Lamu Senator Anwar Wanted For Shooting Woman In The Legs

Police are investigating an alleged shooting incident involving Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip and a 32-year-old woman.

The Senator told Mwanahabari.co.ke that he shot in the air to scare thugs – among them two women – who allegedly attacked him at a Nanyuki hotel on Saturday night.

The Senator who said he is currently in hospital – promised to issues a statement on what actually transpired between him and the said women.

He said: “I am at a hospital for some checkup and will speak on the matter later, but the truth is that we I was attacked by knives-wielding gang last night.”

The Senator told Standard that he was attacked by a gang while at a hotel in Nanyuki with friends. He also pointed out that two women were among a group of people who attacked him and his friends.

He denied any knowledge of shooting anyone – noting that he could not immediately verify – but pointed out that some two women were among his attackers.

The police however, received a report of a shooting incident – where a 32-year-old woman was reportedly shot in the leg on Saturday night after an altercation with Senator Anwar.

According to the police, the woman identified as Joy Makena, was reported to have been shot at a hotel near Kanu Grounds in Nanyuki.

The report noted thus:  “The whereabouts of the Senator remains unknown after the Saturday night incident.”

The police noted – in their report – that the woman was rushed to the nearby Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital – and was in a stable condition.
