Slain Constable Caroline Kangogo’s Children Handed to Their Dad

BY WINSTONE MUSISI

The family of police Corporal Caroline Kangogo who died of suspected suicide two months ago have handed over the two children she sired with her estranged husband.

The late Kangogo’s parents, Mzee Barnabas and Selinah Korir handed over the children, a boy aged 11 years and the 7-year-old girl who were staying with them in their Nyawa village home in Elgeyo Mara wet County since the incident occurred to their son in-law Richard Ng’eno.

Kagongo went underground leaving behind her children in their Kasarani police line house in Nakuru County after she was linked to the brutal murder of her colleague, constable John Ogweno.

Kangogo fled the scene in Nakuru town only to later be placed in yet another murder scene in Kiambu where the body of another young man was found in a hotel room with a bullet in his head.

According to a police brief, the deceased, Peter Ndwiga, had booked room number 107 at the hotel in Kimbo on Monday, July 5, at around 4:30pm.

Hotel attendants who spoke to police said the man walked into their premises in the company of an unidentified woman.

The two shocking incidents prompted Kangogo’s parents to dispatch one of their daughters to Nakuru to pick the children for the sake of their safety.

According to Kangogo’s aunt, Selinah Kibor, the family took the step to enable the children to reunite with their father and also continue with their primary school education.

“We are happy to learn that our son in-law has secured a good boarding primary school for the children where they are studying without any interruption,” said Mrs Kibor.

Her husband kept a low profile in a burial

During her burial two months ago, Kangogo’s husband Richard Ng’eno kept a low profile in a burial that was attended by hundreds of mourners from across the country.

He declined the request by the master of ceremony to address the mourners, among them Deputy Governor Wisley Rotich who had gathered at her parent’s home to pay their last respects.

The suspected killer cop was found dead in her parent’s bathroom situated 40 metres away from the compound.

Ng’eno, a senior cop based in Maritime Police Unit based in Mombasa, was seated beside his son and daughter during the event in which her family mourned her as a humble woman and further asked the police to investigate whether she actually committed suicide and also if she killed the two men including a Nakuru police officer and a Juja-based police officer.

The dad denied claims that his daughter was killed

“Caroline Kangogo was not the one who the media reported, she was a good person,” her brother Mark Kangogo eulogized her.

The slain cop’s father, Mzee Kibor dispelled widespread claims his daughter was killed noting that from his own assessment of the scene, there is no indication of foul play that could point to murder.

“I do not like it when people go on with these insinuations that she might have been killed,” he said.
