Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha has promised to take action against some 8,000 head teachers for failing to aid Form 4 candidates to correctly apply for university courses.
According to Magoha, Principals who are supposed to play a critical role in the entire application process failed to do their job – which has been blamed for the shambolic applications this year.
According to Magoha, 128,023 students will pursue degree courses while 137,072 will purse TVET courses.
” A total of 7,000 students did not apply to universities,” noted a furious Magoha during the during the release of the 2021/22 student placement results into universities and colleges on Tuesday, August 17.
” Our students should be guided and advised during course selections in order to boost their chances of getting their preferred courses,” he said.
“You find a student who wants medicine as the first, second, third, and fourth option. You are actually a fool.
“Because in this world, there is nothing that is permanent except change and you must be flexible and as parents, you must tell your children that they will not always get what they want,” Magoha stated.
“To enable successful applicants to further align their courses, I am directing KUCCPS to conduct the Inter-Institution transfer process online from Wednesday, September 1, to Thursday, September 30,” concluded Mahoha.
