Govt Extends KCPE, KCSE registration deadline

The Ministry of Education has extended the deadline for the submissions of registration details for candidates hopping to seat for KCPE and KCSE.

This means candidates who had not registered for whatever reason, can now rest easy – and register within the next two weeks.

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha said on Monday, August 2, that said the decision to extend the deadline came after  headteachers and principals raised concerns following a low turnout of candidates expected to register.

The registration exercise which had run from June 2 to July 31, 2021, has now been extended to August 14, 2021.

According to the Ministry of Education, a total of 1,218, 892 candidates had registered for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations in 28,248 centres by end on July.

824,392 candidates had registered for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam by end of last month, an increase of 71,790 compared to 2020.

Exams will be in March 2022

“The phenomenal increase in KCSE candidature is attributed to the success of the government’s policy of 100 per cent transition which started in 2018,” Prof Magoha said.

“The headteachers and principals are reminded to ensure that all bona-fide candidates are registered for the examinations within these final two weeks,” he added.

Students are expected to it for their examinations in March 2022;

KCPE running from March 7 and 10, 2022, with KCSE being administered from March 11 to April 1, 2022.
