Former Nairobi governor Mr. Mike Mbuvi Sonko has officially been sued for child-upkeep by an unidentified woman.
The woman is seeking a whooping Sh448,000 monthly for her upkeep and that of teenage daughter.
The woman is accusing Sonko of abandoning their 15-year-old daughter.
Part of the court papers read: “Mr Sonko and I are the biological parents of the minor herein.”
“Mr Sonko has always been defiant and brazen to accept responsibility and assist me with the maintenance of the minor.
“He has over the years willfully withdrawn support towards the maintenance of the minor thus denying her what is rightfully hers and forcing me to take full responsibility for the minor.”
She wants Sonko to pay school fees for the minor totaling Ksh.86,000, and Ksh.30,450 to cover school-related expenses and upkeep for the minor, pending the outcome of the suit.
The case was filed at the Senior Principal Magistrate in Ngong.
In the papers, the woman states that their daughter is currently in Form 2 – and even has a fee balance of Ksh.37,000.
The woman claims Sonko gave her Ksh100,000 in 2018 to sort school related concerns for their daughter, but has remained non-committal ever since.
According to her affidavit, their daughter was born in 2007.
The woman says will use the Ksh500,000 monthly on food, rent, shopping, security, clothing entertainment, medical and other needs.
