Tottenham footballer Son Heung-Min loves nice rides. Some of these rides are not the kind you will find counting hours and wasting fuel on Thika Superhighway or Mombasa road traffic jam.
A few would do just fine in Nairobi – like his Range Rover, a vehicle model that has already been spotted in town.
If you have been wondering where Son has been taking most of his mega salary, you may just want to visit his garage.
The 29-year-old striker has been spending tones of millions on some of the world’s most exclusive cars, wheels that will cost a normal Kenyan water and firewood to put on the road.
The South Korean has a number of cars all worth an amazing £1.5million.
But that’s not very bad collection for a man who earns £110,000 (Ksh16 Million) -a-week from just engaging his footballing feet.
Don’t you buy a red Ferrari
Among his vehicles is a Ferrari. You probably must have heard about Ferrari – but what makes this unique is the fact that only 499 such vehicles exist in this world. It’s a rare vehicle, one that will make your head to turn at 360 degrees should it vroom past you along Mombasa road.
So, whenever you are thinking about the 499 humans who own these cars, just remember that one of that souls is ‘your Son’.
Did you know that Son had initially intended to buy a red Ferrari – but Spurs told him he could not own a red one due to their rivalry with Arsenal? Well, now you know.
And yes, Son picked a black Ferrari instead.
The beast which spends most of its time at Son’s garage can manage 0-60mph in 2.9 secs and boasts a 6.3-litre V12 engine, electrically assisted by the HY-KERS system to deliver a total power output of 950bhp, with a top speed of 227mph.
Son does not just drive the Ferrari – the lad also has an Audi R8 Coupe. This kind of car will take you back £112,520 for the most basic model.
The vehicle has a 5.2L V10 engine and packs an almighty punch and the sleek. It does 0-60mph in 3.2 secs – that would do well in Nairobi Expressway no doubt.
Gift by Italian manufacturer
Son also drives a Maserati Levante, a Maserati’s first SUV, which has a starting price of £60,000.
The car was given to him by the Italian manufacturer as a gift.
A statement from Korea’s official Maserati importer said they gifted the ex-Leverkusen man the motor because it “might be the most matching vehicle to Son, who can play with delicacy and unstoppable power”.
The last car seating in his garage is a Range Rover. The good thing about such a vehicle is that it speaks for itself.
Its matte black finish – a custom touch that also sees the tailgate script, grille and side vents finished in gloss black – makes it a beast.
