Kenya’s athletes Emmanuel Korir and Ferguson Rotich have qualified for the 800 metres finals at the Tokyo Japan Olympics.
The two will be looking to repeat David Rudisha achievement when he won a gold medal in the 800 metres final in Rio Olympics.
One of the two could just bring home our first gold especially after our girls failed to make it to the finals.
Rotich clocked 1:44.04 in his heat with Korir having to dig deep to qualify in the first heat clocking 1:44.74.
The qualification must have given Korir – and the country – some hope after he was earlier disqualified from the 400m race after a false start.
The top three athletes from each of the three heats qualified for the final as well as two athletes with the fastest times.
