Jalang’o: I Charge Ksh 500k For Two-Hour Job

Do you know how much it would cost you to have radio presenter Felix Odiwuor aka Jalang’0 to grace your event as a Master of Ceremony?

To make create a good picture – lets just say that it will cost you water and firewood.

The famous presenter recently revealed just how much it would cost one to invite him to emcee a two hour event – and it’s not pocket change.

It’s not small money especially in an economy that has been ravaged by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Jalang’0 was speaking on AYO TV and Rick Media on July 23 when he visited Tanzania.

In a two part interview series done in Kiswahili, Jalang’o spoke about his journey from the gutters on the shores of Lake Victoria in Homa Bay County – where he began life as a humble fisherman.

From the interview, one can tell that Jalango’s understanding of the East African entertainment scene is top notch having himself been around the scene for the last 20 years.

He spoke highly of Tanzanian musicians Diamond, Harmonize and Alikiba. He also spoke about an incident in Mombasa where he together with Diamond were conned by an unscrupulous promoter.

Asked about how much it would cost someone to have him grace an event, Jalang’o said he charges Ksh500,000 for a 2 hour gig.

“I have built this brand over time. It has been a journey,” he said when asked why he charges tonnes of money.

Jalang’o also opened up about how much he was paid as the Master of Ceremony when then US President Barack Obama visited Kogelo, Siaya County in 2018.

“I was paid Ksh2 Million. That’s roughly $20,000,” he said.

Jalang’o when has expressed his desire to run for the Lang’ata Parliamentary seat come 2022 currently works for Kiss 100 FM and – runs Jalang’o TV on the side.
