The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on Monday 9 revealed it may not clear Peter Munya be become Raila Odinga’s running mate.
The revelation was made by EBC Commissioner Prof Abdi Guliye – who was speaking on Citizen TV.
According to Guliye, Peter Munya is still the active CS for Agriculture – and therefore it would be unlawful to clear him.
“One ought to have resigned if they intend to be in politics and if they are holding public office, they need to have done that six months to the General Election,” he said.
Adding: “The rule applies to all and is not selective and if anyone intended to be in politics one should have made up their mind a long time ago. For IEBC, we will enforce the law as it is.”
Peter Munya’s name was fronted by PNU party.
Azimio advisory selection panel said it would interview seven aspirants.

The Azimio advisory selection panel is chaired by former Cabinet Minister Noah Wekesa.
Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka said he would not be presenting himself for the interview.
