Royal Media Services (RMS) is the latest media house to resume full payment of salaries staff after Nation Media Group and Standard Group.

RMS managing Director WACHIRA WARURU made the announcement in a memo published on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.

RMS announced a 20 percent deduction on the salaries in March 2020 following Covid-19 outbreak in Kenya.

In March 2021, RMS announced a downward revision of the salary reduction by 10% for all employees.

And now, RMS has reinstated full salary payment to all its staff just a few days after losing Editorial Director, the veteran journalist Joe AGEYO.

Waruru’s Tuesday morning Memo read:

“In March 2020, I issued a communication to all staff on the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on our business. I explained the unfortunate necessity to implement salary cuts and the Board has been reviewing the situation throughout this period.

Today, I am pleased to inform you that the Board has approved the resumption of full salaries to all staff effective 1st March 2022.

On behalf of the Board and Management, I wish to express my sincere gratitude to each one of you for your sacrifice and patience throughout this most challenging period. We look forward to your continued diligence and commitment as we work to restore the company to full recovery.”

Meanwhile, Nation media group on Tuesday 14, unveiled former Citizen TV Editorial Director Mr. Joe Ageyo as the new Editorial Director Broadcast.

Ageyo resigned from Citizen just last week. His unveiling at Nation has ended speculations that he may have been planning to run for a political seat this year.
