Former Liverpool defender JAMIE CARRAGHER believes Arsenal are at a pole position to make it to top four in the English Premier league.
Should Arsenal finish in top four, they will automatically qualify for Champions League next season.
The pronouncement by Carragher is sweet music to the ears of Arsenal fans who have not enjoyed the lucrative Champions League in the recent past.
Carragher who has been very critical of Arsenal and Arteta made the predictions after Arsenal beat Wolves 1-0 on Thursday as Manchester United, Tottenham and West Ham lost footing in the weekend.
Arsenal is among a number of top teams desperately battling it out for the Premier League’s fourth spot and qualification to Europe’s elite competition.
The ex-Liverpool star based his argument on the fact that Arsenal have three games in hand.
“I think it will be tough for West Ham to get in the top four,” said Carragher.
Adding: “Arsenal, what a win that was for them away to Wolves. The games in hand, no European football.
“You think about how long Manchester United will be in the Champions League, that could play a part. It feels like it will go to the wire.”
Arsenal finished eighth last season, forcing the team to spend millions in an attempt to re-build – especially after sending a number of players away either permanently or on loan.
Arsenal are looking to capitalize on the fact that Manchester United, Leicester, West Ham and Tottenham appear to be struggling.
Tottenham have lost three games in a row.
