Tokyo Olympics: Japanese Girls Too Good for Kenyan Girls

The Kenya National women volleyball team lost to Japan girls on Sunday, July 25.

The Japanese girls were clearly too good for our Malkia Strikers, with the game ending in favour of the flying hosts.

The African queens lost 15-25, 11-25 and 25-23 with Japan taking all the three sets.

Japan is ranked fifth in the world while Kenya is ranked 24th in the world, but despite the scoreline, there was evidence that Kenya was slowly closing in on the rest of the world.

Kenyan charges showed a fighting spirit in the opening exchanges of the match, but the Japanese were too swift, too good for a fault.

The game was played at the Ariake Arena with Kenyan girls catching Japan by surprise in the opening stages.

It took Japan some time to settle – and when they did – they showed their prowess.

The Malia Strikers showed very good signs, and fought tooth and nail to win at least the last set – but that was not to be with the Japanese coming from behind to win the final set.
