The wife of popular Luo Benga Musician John Madanji was on Tuesday, June 22, shot dead in Nairobi’s Greenspan estate, near Bee Centre, Umoja.
Emmaculate Akoth was walking home with her colleague when the thugs pounced on them before shooting and killing Akoth – and making away with Ksh24,000.
“I am not sure if it was a normal robbery or target on my wife by someone who has a musical grudge with me. Because i have no known enemies in my music career. But if it was a musical grudge, why target my wife? Madanje who was in Kisumu when the incident happened told Ghetto radio.
The 8pm incident was closely witnessed by Emmah’s friend Elizabeth Otieno who was shot in the leg.
“We had just closed our workplace and were headed home. We had branched to go buy sugarcane before people accosted us and surrounded us. On of them then shouted achilieni, from one thug who had a pistol.
“Then I heard two gunshots, one hit my leg. When I looked down, I saw my friend Emmah lying down unconscious,” she says.
“When I went to the police I asked them to go help my friend who had been shot and was unconscious. They told me that she has already been taken to Mama Lucy Hospital,” she said.
I need your help
Madanje took to social media to ask for help.
“Marafiki, as I continue mourning the future of my future Emma Akoth, Nyakokelo. I have created a WhatsApp group for those who would love to support me in any way,” Madanji posted.
Adding: “I will keep you guys posted with the burial plans. Thugs killed mama Bonah.”
