Gor Mahia has been left leaking their wounds after a grueling battle against league leaders Tusker on Thursday, July 8.
Tusker smashed K’Ogalo 2-1 at the Ruaraka grounds to cement their credentials at the top of the league.
The Brewers beat Gor by the same scoreline it did in the first leg of the fixture, and which could be proof of dominance by Tusker in the league.
Gor were the first to score through Tito Okello at the 14th minute, before their lead was cancelled by Tusker boy Boniface Muchiri just a few minutes after he second match.
The match seemed to be headed for a 1-1 draw until Tusker’s Eugene Asike scored in the 90th minute to deny Gor a point.
The win is good news for Tusker who are kin to win the league with only a few games left before the league winds up. Tusker are now four points clear at the tip of the league table with the team having garnered 50 points from 23 matches.
The loss is a significant dent to Gor Mahia’s pursuit of the league – and are now sitting at position 4 with 39 points from 23 matches.
AFC Leopards are no doubt celebrating after losing the FKF Shield Cup to Gor Mahia in a match that ended in a draw leading to a penalty shootout which ended in favour of Gor.
Ingwe can, however, draw some consolation from the fact that they are above their bitter rivals Gor in the current league standing. scoreline of 4-1 after the match went to penalties.
