Shortage of Running Mates: Will Ruto Pick Martha Karua?

BY MWANAHABARI REPORTER

Moses Kuria has publicly invited Martha Karua to join Deputy President William Ruto – and be the running the mate.

One this is clear – Moses Kuria and UDA brigate are desperately looking for a running mate that will help DP Ruto to win the 2022 general elections.

Moses said: “To my good friend and soulmate Hon Martha Karua. We cannot make ourselves ideal humans from clay. We can only live with the ones God gave us, with all their imperfections and frailties,” he said.

Adding: “Pick a side and put on your Jersey. I look forward to an imminent Ruto-Karua ticket to save this country from eternal dynastic domination.”

“If you decide otherwise you will still remain my sister, my senior and my friend,” added Moses.

It will be interesting to see what becomes of this invitation given that Martha Karua has made it clear that she is not joining UDA, and would rather vote for Raila Odinga as president.

In 2017, Martha Karua while speaking to NTV said: “My support was basically for President Uhuru and yes, I knew his deputy was William Ruto. In the last election, I supported a ticket which had two people but my main support was to President Kenyatta.”

“If I have to choose between Raila and Ruto, I would go with Raila without thinking twice about it,” Martha said.

Man had expected Martha to join Azimio, but she shocked Kenyans after skipping Azimio La Umoja meeting where her fellow OKA principals Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Kanu’s Gideon Moi endorsed Raila Odinga for the presidency.

Asked where she was, Karua tweeted “Relaxing at home”.

It is not clear which political direction Martha will take – with many claiming she is keen on fighting for Kirinyaga Governor seat.

Then there are those who believe she could be Raila Odinga’s running mate. Others, like Moses, wants her to be Ruto running mate.
