A-16-year-old teenage boy accused of being a serial defiler of minors stunned an Eldoret court when he confessed to defiling minors after smoking bhang.
The teenager, who claimed that he was a drug addict, shocked the packed court when he told Eldoret Senior principal Magistrate Naomi Wairimu that he had been defiling the minors after smoking bhang.
“I am 16-year-old, it is true that I defiled the minor but I defiled her after smoking a roll of bhang,” he told the court during plea today, Tuesday February 15, 2022.
The accused who looked jovial in the dock, alleged that the intoxication of cannabis sativa has contributed to his heinous acts.
The adolescent boy who is charged with defiling two minors on the same day had earlier on pleaded guilty to the charges before blaming the act on his addiction to cannabis sativa.
In the first incident, the prosecution told the court that on July 20, 2021 at Judea village, he defiled a girl aged four years.
The second charge stated that he defiled another minor aged five years in the same village.
When the teenager first appeared in court, he pleaded guilty of the offences.
He however, changed to plea of not guilty when he came to court for facts.
The accused who is a class six dropout has since been remanded at Eldoret Juvenile remand home.
Since his arrest none of his relatives has ever visited him or appeared in court.
This has prompted the court to adjourn the mention his case on several occasions since August 2021 due to various challenges including failure by remand home to produce him in court, court recess, among other factors.
Following the delay for the hearing to kick off, he has accused the prosecution for delaying his case.
The teenager is also unable to raise bonds.
The case will be heard on February 28.
