Nominees For 2nd Kenya Theatre Awards Set to Be Announced

The Kenya Theatre Awards is pleased to announce the nominees for the 2nd edition of the Kenya Theatre Awards, during an announcement on Monday, January 23rd at 11:00 am within The Kenya Cultural Centre incorporating Kenya National Theatre (KCC-NT) at Ukumbi Mdogo.

KTA had its inaugural ceremony in 2022 and has since continued to engage with Kenyan theatre professionals in a bid to recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of individuals and organisations.

All theatre shows submitted

A 5-person jury with representatives from academics, theatre practitioners, media and the government was tasked to attend and watch all theatre shows submitted for award consideration.

The jury upholds a high level of integrity and critical scrutiny in their selection process to pick nominees who embody the best of theatre, in a process managed by The Kenya Theatre Awards Secretariat.

The 2nd Kenya Theatre Awards’ nominees were selected from 100 theatre companies and 170 productions that took place in the year 2022.

503 shows

Most of them were staged more than once, making up a performances total of 503 shows as recorded by the Kenya Theatre Awards Secretariat.

The nominees for the 2nd Kenya Theatre Awards will be announced at a press conference on Monday, January 23rd at 11:00am.

Media and press are invited to attend the event and cover the announcement of the nominees and official launch of public voting systems.

Thereafter, the award ceremony will be held on 23rd February. ### About the Kenya Theatre Awards: The Kenya Theatre Awards (KTAs) is a premiere platform that recognises and rewards outstanding achievements in the theatre industry, elevating the standard of excellence in Kenya’s theatrical landscape.

It held its first awards ceremony on 17th February 2022, awarding outstanding acts from the year 2021.
