The body of a Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) who went missing in August 2021 has been found.
Francis Oyaro – a KWS Chief Inspector’s body was found among a pile of bodies that were retrieved from River Yala last month.
Mr Oyaro who hailed from Uyoma in Siaya County went missing in August. The family had been combing morgues, hospitals hoping that their kin would return home alive.
Unfortunately, the body of Oyaro who disappeared while travelling to his village home, in a KWS vehicle, was found among the 26 bodies picked from River Yala.
Reports indicated that DNA samples from his mother was used to identify Oyaro – since his body had decomposed beyond recognition.
Out of the 26 bodies collected from the infamous river, 12 have been identified, meaning that 14 bodies are yet to be identified.
On January 22, a distraught Irene Waheto from Nyeri was shocked to find the body of her kid brother among the bodies retrieved from River Yala.
“I have just seen my brother’s face. Our faces are alike, even the mouth. I have also seen the legs, those are my brother’s. I have no doubt it’s him,” Irene told BBC.
She said that her brother went missing alongside two other men in November while travelling from Nairobi to Nakuru.
“It is Ndirangu, I am sure it is him,” she cried.
That same day Ben Chepkwony also found the body of his brother Philemon who reportedly went missing in December 2021 also somewhere between Nairobi and Nakuru.
“I don’t know who is killing these people and dropping them [here],” he wondered.
“This is not a democratic Kenya we wish to live in. I am so frustrated with this country. And I will not accept it at all.”
At the time, 19 bodies picked from the River had not been identified.
