Millionaire Supermarket Owner Commits Suicide Near His Mansion

Shock and grief engulfed an estate in Iten town, Elgeyo Marakwet County after a prominent businessman allegedly hanged himself last night using an electric cable.

The body of Christopher Chemwolo, described as a reserved man, was found hanging from a tree inside the compound of his palatial home by his wife of over 20 years.

Keiyo North OCPD Patrick Lumumba confirmed the incident and said they have launched investigations into the matter adding that the deceased did not leave any suicide note behind.

He said that detectives who visited the scene are said to have discovered strange drugs stuffed in the deceased pockets – and which have have been taken to government chemistry for analysis.

The police chief urged members of the public to stop speculating on the incident.

“We have launched investigations to establish why the businessman hanged himself,” said Lumumba.

Owns supermarkets, shoe shop

The late Chemwolo owns one of the leading supermarkets in Iten town, Bamwai supermarket limited, a Bata shop and several multi-million shillings self-contained apartments in the area.

When his workers reported for work today morning they were shocked to learn that their employer had killed himself in his house forcing them to return back to their respective rental house.

One of the neighbors of the deceased who declined, said the couple who had not been blessed with any child have been wrangling a lot resulting in physical fights.

“The couple were reserved and nobody dared to enter their home since they also did not interact with neighbors,’ she said.

The body of the deceased was taken by the police and taken to Iten county referral hospital mortuary
