A middle aged man has been arrested for allegedly smashing his cousin to death using a club in Cheptingting village, Bomet.
Police identified the deceased as Mathew Cheruiyot Korir – who they said was killed in his house as his wife watched.
Koiwa area chief Emily Koech said the suspect was identified as Leonard Rono – a cousin to the deceased.
“It is unclear what may have led to the violent altercation between the two cousins,” said the chief.
The tragic incident took place at the victim’s house – and that his wife Beatrice Chemutai witnessed the brutal attack.
Police officers from Konoin station recovered ta bloodied Rungu believed to have been the murder weapon.
The suspect was reportedly arrested at the Cheptalal sub-county hospital where he had gone to receive treatment.
The body of the deceased was taken to Kapkatet Hospital mortuary for preservation and post-mortem examination.
