Lorry Loses Control, Hits Nursery School & Church

At least four people are said to have died after a speeding lorry lost control before ploughing through a church that houses a nursery school on Monday, February 28.

According to a witness, two of the four dead bodies retrieved from the rubble were school children, and two adults.

Reports that the lorry was speeding on the Meru-Isiolo road when it hit a speed bump at the Subu-iba junction and lost control.

The school is said to have a been a nursery school, that was housed inside the Isiolo’s Pentecost Church.

The accident left many other people, most of them school children, nursing serious injuries on the limbs and other parts of the body.

Others were traders who had lined there wares along the road selling stuff in small scale.

A boda boda operator who had parked along the road is also said to have been killed in the accident.

Isiolo County Red Cross Co-ordinator Abdikadir Ali confirmed the incident, saying that four bodies had been pulled out of the scene.

Several critically injured have been rushed to hospital as operations to remove the bodies continue.
