A report by the Media Council of Kenya (MCK) released on February 13, 2023, shows that three in every 10 Kenyans bet.
The information is contained in the State of Kenya’s Media Report 2022.
According to the report, 30 percent of the respondents had placed a bet at one point in their lives. That’s not a small number given Kenya’s adult population.
The report dubbed, Participation in betting/gambling, shows that most Kenyans 31 percent, bet on the Betika site.
Sportpesa follows closely at 28 percent, Odi Bet takes home 10 per cent, Shabiki 5 per cent, and Mozzart Bet only manages 4 per cent. The rest of the betting sites have to fight over the remaining tiny percentages.
In terms of the betting frequency, the report indicated that 31 percent bet once a week, 25 percent do it once a day, 19 percent do it rarely, 18 percent bet more than once a day, and 7 percent bet once a month.
