Residents of Kakamega county have criticized their women representative Hon. Elsie Muhanda for initiating projects that do not improve their livelihoods.
The residents have accused the politician of directing hundreds of thousands of shillings on irrelevant and crazy projects even as Kenyans continue to face harsh economic times brought about by COVID-19 pandemic.
The residents questioned why the leader was spending resources distributing pants and gifting biscuits and crunchy edibles to primary school kids which she went ahead to post on her social media platform.
The anguished residents took to her Facebook page to express their outrage in response to what she had earlier posted in the name of development, where they tore her to pieces.
The perturbed residents wondered why she had not offered anything tangible to the people most of whom are suffering from the ravages of the pandemic.
The people criticized Hon Muhanda for launching projects that did not directly benefit them.
Her harsh criticism comes barely two months after she posted on her Facebook page how her office had facilitated the construction of a mud house to a widower in the Butere constituency.
The woman representative went ahead to brand the house with her full names on the fisser board.
Muhanda later pulled down the post which had left many people talking.
They blamed her advisers for misleading her, urging her to direct the money to projects that will benefit locals.
“Of what importance is it for her to buy inner wears for a male pupil, she could have directed that lump sum on many important projects”, Said David Miriongi, a resident of Lurambi.
“She gives out umbrellas to women she only knows. It would have been better if she could have used that money to give us capital, what are umbrellas for if we don’t have jobs,” said another.
