Police have established that Kiambu businessman Jonathan Mukundi lured his estranged wife Philomena Njeri to his house with intention to kill her.
Reports indicated that Njeri and her husband Mukundi had been living separately for the last three months owing to endless disagreements at home.
According to the police, Mukundi reached out to his wife on Monday, August 2, saying he wanted them to work on restoring their 12-year marriage.
The two are said to have met at a restaurant along Kiambu Road before they parted ways after lengthy talks. The talks seems to have left a wound inside Mukundi, who just moments later, called Njeri on phone claiming that he had been involved in an accident – and therefore needed her help.
Police said their was no proof that Mukundi was involved in any accident on that day.
It was then that a sympathizing Njeri rushed to Mukundi’s house to find out what may have happened and possibly attend to him – at which point he shot her – before turning the gun on himself.
Reports indicated that Njeri may have disclosed to her husband that she was pregnant – and the child was not his – something that many believed may have infuriated Mukundi.
Neighbors told the police that a day would hardly pass without hearing the two quarreling in their house – proof that their marriage was characterised by endless quarrels.
Police are still trying to piece the puzzle together with fresh details emerging that Mukundi was not very keen on having children with Njeri.
