Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has declared his candidacy for president and is preparing to offer himself for election in 2032.
Speaking to Uasin Gishu religious community on Sunday, June 6, Mandago noted that he had 10 years to strategize.
“I have a strategic plan. In 2032 I will vie for the presidency, so I have ten years in between to plan,” he said.
“You must have a plan. Prayers are of no use if you don’t plan and now because I have one, I encourage you to support me with prayers,” he said.
The governor who is serving his third term also had a message to those aspiring to succeed him among them Soy MP Caleb Kositany and businessman Bundotich Zedekiah Kiprop (Buzeki).
“To those who will come after me, keep on the good work. We wish you God’s favour but you should know the decision rests on the voters,” he said.
The three politicians had attended the official opening and consecration of the St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Church, Soy Parish.
“St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Church, Soy Parish, for the Church Opening and Consecration Ceremony,” Buzeki said.
Governor Mandago and Buzeki, went head-to-head right from the party nominations in 2017 till the General Election, with Mandago emerging as the ultimate winner.
On the other hand, Kositany is one of Deputy President William Ruto’s right-hand men and his influence could determine who clinches the Uasin Gishu seat.
