Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his Kanu counterpart Gideon Moi have parted ways their ANC counterpart Musalia Mudavadi over his link with United Democratic (UDA) party leader William Ruto.
In a statement seen by Mwanahabari on Sunday, the two One Kenya Alliance (OKA) pricipals said they were forced to leave ANC’s National Delegates Convention at Bomas of Kenya because they were not comfortable with the presence of UDA leaders at the event.
“Unfortunately, we have to part ways since some of his friends are not our friends and we are unsafe with them,” read the statement by OKA spokesperson Fredrick Okango.
According to Okango, the two leaders opted to end the political nasty games and mistrust in OKA and chart they own destiny going forward.
“We are therefore moving to higher grounds where Kenyans are safer. It is time to move forward, it is time to end the nasty political games.”
Kalonzo and Gideon on Sunday walked out of Mudavadi’s function after politicians allied to UDA led by Deputy President William Ruto.
The two leaders left the venue without uttering a word after seeing the DP team arrive in what could mark the end of OKA.
But Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala hit out at the two, saying they could not choose for Mudavadi his political friends just like he [Mudavdi] was not choosing for them whom to work with for the August 9 General Election.
Malala castigated Kalonzo and Senator Gideon, saying ANC leaders did not leave the two parties’ NDC despite inviting their friends led by ODM leader Raila Odinga.
“I was invited to Kanu and Wiper NDCs and they invited their friends, but we did not get mad. Today they came here and saw our friends then they get mad,” he said.
Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula said it is Mudavadi who stood with him when he was ousted as Senate Minority Leader in 2018 and replaced by Siaya Senator James Orengo.
” When I was being humiliated in the Senate, it is Mudavadi that drove to my house to stand with me,” he said.
During the event, Mudavadi announced his State House bid, hinting at working with Ruto’s UDA party.
