The President of Burundi Mr Evariste Ndayishimiye arrived in Kisumu on Monday morning, May 31, as he prepares to attend the Madaraka Day celebrations in Tuesday 1.
Ndayishimiye was accompanied by First Lady Angeline Ndayubaha. The two will be in the country for a two-day state visit to Kenya.
The Burundian entourage was received at the Kisumu International Airport.
President Uhuru Kenyatta arrived in Kisumu on Sunday, May 30, for a development tour ahead of the Tuesday celebrations.
Uhuru will commission national government projects that are complete, inspect ongoing initiatives and launch new projects.
According to the State House, Margaret Kenyatta and the Burundi First Lady Ndayubaha will take part in a number of programmes together.
“The President will be joined on the tour by several national and regional leaders among them Opposition leader Raila Odinga, Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o among others,” stated Dena said.
The Madaraka Day celebrations which will be held at the new Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Mamboleo, Kisumu county.
