The body of a senior criminal investigations officer attached to Itabwa police station in Embu was on Monday 24 found dumped in Elgeyo Marakwet County.

The badly mutilated body of the officer, Abdirahim Adow Abdullai, who went missing on Wednesday was found along Iten-Kabarnet highway, near Tambach primary school.

The body was found by school children who were headed to school – before informing police officers from Tambach police station.

The naked body of the slain DCI officer had multiple injuries on the head, stomach and had his hands tied from behind.

The family of the deceased have expressed their disappointment at the manner in which the investigations have been handled since they reported to the police last week.

The deceased is said to have been handling 11 cases related to drugs – before he mysteriously went missing.

“The police who are investigating the matter since we reported the disappearance of our kin have taken long to unravel the circumstances under which he went missing at his work station,” said Abdikadir Abdullai, brother of the late officer.

The family is now calling on Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i to intervene.

The body has been moved to Tambach sub county mortuary.
