Body of missing American businessman found in Kerugoya

The body of the missing engineer Bashir Mohamed Mohamud has been found.

Bashir, a Somali-American businessman reportedly went missing last week in Nairobi, but his body was finally found in Kerugoya County, his family says.

“It is with heavy hearts that the family of Bashir Mohamed Mohamud informs you that the body was found earlier today at Kerugoya level 5 hospital,” the  family lawyer Charles Madowo said in a statement.

According to preliminary reports, Bashir’s body had physical wounds, a sign that he might have been tortured to death.

The family claims that there are visible deep cuts and two suspected bullet wounds on the head.

Bashir’s family is now calling on State agencies to swing into action and arrest those behind his death.

“As the family processes this tragic news and plan for his burial, they request that they be afforded privacy,” the press statement appealed.

‘Even as Bashir rests, the family shall not rest until justice has been served and those responsible for his death brought to book,” it added.

Bashir who was linked with the ongoing political standoff in Somalia was last seen on May 13 at Miale entertainment lounge, in Lavington, where CCTV footage captured someone in his black Range Rover dishing money to security officers at the gate.

The shell of the vehicle was later found in a thicket in Kibiku area in Ngong, Kajiado county, burnt beyond recognition.

Strangely, though, when his family returned to the scene,  they found the shell of the burnt car had been wiped out from the scene of crime.
