Bishop Muriithi now offers to pay son’s school fees

Man of God – Bishop David Muriithi of the House of Grace has admitted to siring a child with a woman identified as Judy Mutave, who is now seeking child upkeep.

According to Bishop Muriithi he was in an on and off relationship with Ms Mutave back in 2018. There son is now two years old.

The Bishop has also promised to cater for school fees for his son – and pay an additional Ksh10,000 monthly for his upkeep.

“As a responsible Kenyan, I am offering to take responsibility of paying fees for the minor as well as payment of Sh10,000 per month for subsistence.

“I make the commitment herein bearing in mind my limited means and family responsibility, which I am obliged to meet as well as the fact that the minor’s education will take the largest share of his maintenance,” he says in court papers.

Bishop David is married.

The Man of God, however, took issue with Ms Mutave for enrolling the son to an expensive school without consulting him.

He noted: “I was not consulted in the choice of Kiota School neither can I afford the fees, as I have no regular income and only rely on well-wishers for support for the church and my family.”

Ms Mutave had sued the Bishop seeking Sh100,000 monthly allowance for the child upkeep.

The Bishop maintains that he was not aware that he had a two-year-old son with Ms Mutave as she had kept it a secret from him – adding that they had a very short relationship.

“When I met the applicant she was living with her other teenage child. At no point did she disclose that she was pregnant. What I recall is that the applicant kept on complaining that she had fibroid and never spoke about a pregnancy.

“I heard about the pregnancy long after the relationship ended “when I called to say hello and in the process she casually informed me that she was at St Mary’s Hospital to deliver.”
