Senator James Orengo poured cold water on an alleged move by a section of ODM leaders to remove him from the position of the Leader of Minority in the Senate.
Orengo, who is known for his level headedness and oratory skills, said that he could not be intimidated as he had seen enough.
“I can never be intimated. I have seen many powerful people come and go. I have seen Presidents come and go. I have seen powerful women come and go. I can never be intimidated.
I urge you for the future of this country, NEVER BE INTIMATED. If my day comes, I will accept it, but my conscious, how I have been brought up, I cannot sell it,” stated the Siaya senator while addressing the house.
Orengo was under fire following his alleged proposal that the BBI document be amended before it can be adopted – a position he shared with a number of politicians among them Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo.
In a statement delivered on May 5, 2021, the Orange Democratic Movement Party (ODM) stated that it has no intentions of replacing Siaya Senator James Orengo as the Senate Minority Leader.
ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga’s spokesperson Dennis Onyango said that the party and more so Raila had no such plans and termed claims that the Siaya senator was next on the chopping board as unfounded.
Otiende was, however, not very lucky as he was removed from the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee and replaced by Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang’.
