Residents of Ndalat village in Mosop constituency, Nandi county on Thursday 7 morning woke up to a horrifying incident after a casual laborer butched his wife and three children to death over a domestic feud.
In a beastly act,the man, identified as Ebenyo, first hacked his wife with a machete on the neck killing her instantly before moving to his children, two boys and a girl by poisoning them to death.
After accomplishing his deadly act, the man who hails from Turkana county tried to commit suicide by stabbing in the neck but in vain.
According to one of the neighbors, Elkana Biwott,Ebenyo walked to Kabiyet police station where he surrendered himself to the police who locked him in custody.
“We were left in shock and disbelief when we discovered the lifeless body of the suspect’s wife and three children in their one bedroomed rental house at Ndalat trading centre,” said Biwott.
He said the suspect who has been doing manual jobs in the area to eke out a living has been squabbling with his wife over family related issues that at times resulted in physical fights in their house.
The bodies of the victims have been transported by the police to Kapsabet county referral hospital morgue for preservation ahead of burial arrangement.
A senior police officer who declined to be named said investigations have been launched into the matter to establish what might have led the suspect to commit the heinous act on his family.
‘We are holding the man and he is helping us with investigations into the heinous act he is alleged to have committed against his wife and three children,” said the officer.
