President Uhuru Kenyatta surprised Kenyans after breaking protocol to eat at a local eatery in Mombasa. on Tuesday, February 8.
Uhuru enjoyed a sumptuous meal at the famous at Barka restaurant in Mombasa in the company of Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, Mvita Member of Parliament Abdulswamad Sheriff and other Mombasa leaders.
The president’s escorts also took the time to enjoy a meal on his account.
According to sources, Uhuru loved the meal.
“The president at special fish coconut sauce, Swahili rice and green grams stew with a coastal twist. For dessert, he ate Matobosha which is a Swahili dessert made from wheat and sugar with a special twist from the hotel, ” a source told Mwanahabari.
Uhuru is a regular at the restaurant, having branched to enjoy a meal on a number of occasions.
Uhuru also likes to grab Chicken Biryani, Tamarind juice whenever he is in Mombasa.
The hotel has described Uhuru as a loyal customer – a leader whose generosity knows no boundary.
Food at the restaurant cost as little as Ksh 80 with chicken biryani costing Ksh 550.
ODM leader Raila Odinga has also visited the hotel before – and is known to be a regular whenever he visits the Coast.
