A 45- year-old father man accused in connection over alleged defilement of his two daughters aged seven and twelve years will be detained for four days in police custody pending outcome of investigations, an Eldoret court has today Monday ordered.
Eldoret Senior Resident Magistrate Barnabas Kiptoo gave the orders following an application filed by investigating Officer Jackeline Waswa.
Waswa, in her sworn affidavit told the court that the suspect was arrested on January 28 at Uhuru market in Uasin Gishu County after the incident which was reported at Naiberi police station by area village elder following concerns from the teachers in the school where the girls used to learn.
This was after the tutors noticed unusual posture from the juveniles when they reported to the school in the morning.
According to locals, the man took advantage of the absence of his wife from their home after she had gone to visit her parents in a neighboring county.
The locals are alleging that the suspect had been defiling the victims on various occasions for over a year.
While making her application, Waswa informedĀ the court that she intends to detain the suspect at Naiberi police station for four days to allow her to record statements from key witnesses as well as filling the P3 form before charging the suspect accordingly.
The court allowed the investigating officer to detain the respondent at the police station as requested since the suspect did not object to the application.
In the same court, two other men suspected of defiling minors in Huruma and Kamukunji estate in Eldoret town were also detained for a similar number of days
All the cases will be mentioned on February 4.
