Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has hit out on Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his Kanu counterpart Gideon Moi for walking out on ANC’s leader Musalia Mudavadi during the party’s National Delegates Convention (NDC) at Bomas of Kenya.
Addressing the delegates on Sunday, Malala said it was wrong for the two One Kenya Alliance (OKA) to walk out, adding that Deputy President William Ruto was invited to the event and was never a gatecrasher.
“You can see the earthquake has claimed two lives,” he said amid cheers from the delegates.
The senator said Kanu and Wiper’s NDC invited their friends including ODM leader Raila Odinga but they in ANC did not walk out of the events.
“I was invited to Kanu and Wiper NDCs and they invited their friends, but we did not get mad. Today they came here and saw our friends then they get mad,” he said.
Malala said Musalia and Ruto have been kingmakers from 2002 to 2017 and that it was time for them to be kings themselves.
Malala cited the 2002 General Election when Mudavadi and Ruto teamed up to back President Uhuru Kenyatta and in 2007 when the two backed Raila’s presidential bid.
Malala, however, said they would approach Kalonzo and Senator Gideon to ensure they walk together.
Drama unfolded at Bomas of Kenya after Senator Gideon and Kalonzo walked out of the conference after UDA-allied MPs led by Ruto arrived at the venue.
The two leaders left the venue without uttering a word after seeing the DP team arrive in what could mark the end of OKA.
In his speech, Mudavadi said ANC as a party will not allow anyone to choose for it friends and that their friends’ enemies were not necessarily ANC’s enemies.
During the vent, Mudavadi announced his State House bid, hinting at working with Ruto’s UDA party.
