A number of Cabinet Secretaries have silently expressed their concern after DP William Ruto invited them to a high voltage meeting in Karen.
Reports indicate that Ruto has invited National Treasury CS Ukuru Yattani, Education CS George Magoha, Agriculture CS Peter Munya, Transport CS James Macharia and Devolution CS Charles Keter to the Inter-governmental Budget and Economic Council meeting.
Also invited to the meeting slated for November 22, 2021 – are the Council of Governor’s chair Martin Wambora, the office of the Auditor-General Nancy Gathungu, Controller of Budget Margaret Nyakang’o, Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Anne Amadi.
Others are the chairperson of the Revenue Allocation Jane Kirinagai, chairperson of the County Assemblies Forum Ndegwa Wahome, Clerk of the National Assembly Michael Sialai, and the acting chairman of the Inter-governmental Relations Technical Committee John Burugu.
The Cabinet secretaries, however, are said to be feeling uncomfortable especially because of the rocky relationship between their boss Uhuru Kenyatta and DP Ruto.
There is fear that Ruto could use the meeting to sanitize and seek support for his presidential campaign.
The letter sent from Ruto’s office read in part: “The purpose of this letter is to inform you that the next full council meeting shall take place on Monday, 22nd November 2021 at the Office of the Deputy President, Karen office, at 9am.”
